About the role

Cybersecurity Cloud Ops Threat and Incident Response Lead

The Opportunity:

As a cyber professional, you know that understanding adversary tactics, techniques, and procedures is vital to defending the cloud platforms where the nation's mission AI runs. At Booz Allen, you can apply your skills and broad knowledge to detect, contain, and close down threats against a cloud platform built to DoD Impact Level 5 (IL5) requirements. Here, you aren't just watching dashboards or tending tools. You're the first action on every alert, and the person who turns each incident into a stronger defense.

As the threat detection and incident response lead on our team, you'll operate and defend an AWS GovCloud platform and the agentic AI workloads that run on it, using Splunk, AWS Security Hub, GuardDuty, Inspector, and Tenable. Those tools are where you start, not where you stop: you'll pair them with agentic AI to build new detections, automate triage, containment, and response, and turn every repeat incident into a solution the platform runs on its own. Working alongside platform, cyber, and governance teams, you'll keep the platform secure in production every day, evaluate risk as it changes, and make recommendations that get built. You'll see the environment through the eyes of an adversary and act before they do.

In this role, you'll impact defense missions by owning detection and response on the platform, executing and improving incident response runbooks so first action lands inside the required reporting window, serving on the on-call rotation, and producing the continuous monitoring evidence our authorization depends on.

Booz Allen is committed to creating an environment where you can expand your cyber career through mentoring, the opportunity to leverage new resources, and the ability to gain in-demand certifications to sharpen your skill set. With opportunities supporting both the private and public sectors across multiple geographies, your career is only limited by your own appetite for exploration.

Work with us to secure our systems, networks, and crucial infrastructures.

Join us. The world can’t wait.

You Have:

  • 3+ years of experience operating cloud security services in production, including AWS Security Hub, GuardDuty, Inspector, and CloudTrail
  • 3+ years of experience with a SIEM such as Splunk, including detection tuning and alert triage
  • Experience executing incident response runbooks and leading incident calls
  • Experience automating detection, triage, or response with scripting or AI-enabled tooling
  • Knowledge of NIST SP 800-53 Rev. 5, NIST SP 800-61, FedRAMP High, and DoD Cloud Computing SRG requirements
  • Ability to work across cyber, platform, and governance teams in fast-moving mission environments
  • Secret clearance
  • Bachelor's degree in a Cybersecurity, Computer Science, or Engineering field and 5+ years of experience in security operations, incident response, or threat detection, or 9+ years of experience in security operations, incident response, or threat detection in lieu of a degree

Nice If You Have:

  • Experience with AWS GovCloud or other IL4 or IL5 environments
  • Experience with Kubernetes (EKS) and container security monitoring
  • Experience with Tenable (ACAS), JFrog Xray, Trellix ePO, or Amazon Security Lake
  • Experience with agentic AI systems or LLM-enabled automation, including security monitoring of agent activity
  • Experience operating within structured SLAs, uptime requirements, and incident response MTTR and MTTA targets
