About Humble Robotics

Working at Humble Robotics means taking on the biggest change in ground transportation in decades. We're building an autonomous, zero-emissions hauler that dramatically lowers the cost of freight with groundbreaking vision-based AI, designed for today's global logistics network.

We're a fast-moving, close-knit team of AV industry veterans and innovative thinkers. We don't believe culture can be engineered – but when it falls into place, it's a once-in-a-lifetime adventure.

Progress has never felt so present.

About The Role

As our first dedicated IT hire, you will keep Humble's people, lab, and systems running. You will own corporate IT end to end: identity and access, laptops and workstations across macOS, Windows, and Ubuntu, the office and lab network, and the SaaS stack the team lives in. You will spend part of each week hands-on in the robotics lab and part building the automation that keeps the next hundred employees from needing a bigger IT team.

Our goal is that the person who fills this role would primarily work from Humble Robotics’ San Francisco office 5 days a week. We aim to create an in office environment that fosters a collaborative, generative atmosphere where the team can build together.

What You’ll Do

    • Own the employee IT lifecycle: onboarding and offboarding, account provisioning, device imaging and shipping, access grants and revocations, and license administration.

    • Administer identity and access: SSO, MFA, SCIM provisioning, and group-based access to Google Workspace, Slack, GitHub, Jira/Confluence, and engineering systems.

    • Be first responder for the office and lab network: switches, VLANs, Wi‑Fi, VPN, and the isolated test networks that trucks, sensors, and test rigs attach to.

    • Support the robotics lab and shop floor: engineering workstations, lab servers and NAS, data-offload pipelines from vehicles, and the hardware engineers need to run tests.

    • Set up and support conference-room AV and collaboration tools (Zoom or Google Meet rooms, digital signage).

    • Automate repetitive work with Bash or Python, Ansible, and platform APIs; measure ticket trends and remove the root causes.

    • Maintain the asset inventory and hardware lifecycle, run IT procurement and vendor relationships, and keep spend visible.

    • Partner with security and engineering on endpoint security, certificate management, vulnerability remediation, and the controls needed.

    • Take part in a light on-call rotation for after-hours incidents once the team grows.

What You Bring

  • 4+ years in an IT support, systems administration, or IT engineering role, ideally in a hardware, robotics, lab, or manufacturing environment.

  • Strong hands-on troubleshooting across Windows, Mac and Linux-based operating systems operating systems.

  • Experience administering an identity provider,, including SSO, MFA, and user lifecycle automation.

  • Experience with at least one MDM/endpoint-management platform and a point of view on managing Linux fleets.

  • Solid networking fundamentals: TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, switching, Wi‑Fi, and VPN, and the ability to trace a dropped port on the lab floor.

  • Scripting ability in Bash and/or Python, and comfort using Ansible or similar configuration tooling.

  • Experience running a ticket queue and writing documentation people actually use.

  • Clear written and spoken communication, a customer-service mindset, and the ability to prioritize when several urgent things land at once.

  • Able to lift up to 50 lb and work in a lab and shop-floor environment.

  • Eligibility to work in the United States.

Bonus Points

  • Experience supporting autonomous vehicles, robots, drones, or other embedded Linux devices on a corporate or lab network.

  • Cloud fundamentals and infrastructure-as-code

  • Experience with lab or data-center infrastructure: servers, virtualization, SAN/NAS storage.

  • Conference-room AV experience.

  • We operate in a a fast-moving field, and we don't expect any one candidate to tick every box above. If you're excited about building the systems that enable autonomous trucks to get safely on the road, and your background covers most — but not all — of what we've listed, we'd still love to hear from you. Humble Robotics is built by people who grew into the hardest problems in this field, not just people who'd already solved them.
