About the role
Who We’re Looking For
State Street Alpha is seeking an Officer, Product Manager to help define and deliver the next generation of our Enterprise Data Management (EDM) platform services. You’ll help build cloud-native, independently deployable data services that help some of the world’s largest investment firms master, govern and distribute their data at scale.
This role suits a product manager or business analyst with 3–5 years of experience who wants to deepen their expertise in investment data and data management platforms. Working closely with senior product leaders, you will own requirements and backlog for specific capabilities across entity and identifier resolution, reference data management, extensible data models and release management.
You’ll partner with engineering, architecture and client teams to turn business needs into well-defined, testable features, with clear room to grow your scope and impact.
Why This Role Is Important to Us
State Street Alpha brings together data and capabilities across the investment lifecycle to help clients make better decisions, grow at scale and deliver returns for their clients. The Alpha Data Platform is a market-leading SaaS platform powering front-to-back investment workflows for global financial institutions.
We are evolving our data management services to be more modular, scalable and flexible to deploy — reaching more clients and simplifying how they adopt and operate our platform. You will play a direct role in delivering the capabilities that help us grow our data platform business and deliver faster, safer releases to clients.
What You Will Be Responsible For
- Own product requirements and backlog for assigned EDM platform service capabilities, such as entity and identifier resolution or reference data management.
- Translate business needs into clear epics, user stories and acceptance criteria, working day to day with engineering and QA in an Agile delivery model.
- Document matching and resolution rules, data mappings and reference data definitions across securities, issuers, accounts and related domains.
- Analyze source data and existing data models to define scope, identify gaps and support data model extension and configuration requirements.
- Help define and validate test scenarios, support user acceptance testing and confirm features meet functional and data quality expectations.
- Contribute to release planning and readiness, including release notes, configuration documentation and rollback considerations.
- Track delivery progress, risks and dependencies, and prepare status updates for product leadership.
- Take part in design reviews and working sessions with architecture, engineering and client delivery teams.
- Support client and internal stakeholder engagements by gathering feedback, answering functional questions and helping with demos.
- Keep product documentation, requirements artifacts and knowledge bases up to date in Jira and Confluence.
Qualifications
- 3–5 years of experience in product management, business analysis or data analysis, ideally in financial services or enterprise SaaS.
- Working knowledge of investment data domains (securities, issuers, pricing, portfolios, transactions, corporate actions) and the investment lifecycle.
- Exposure to reference data, security master or data management concepts such as identifier cross-referencing, data mapping and data quality.
- Ability to write clear requirements, user stories and acceptance criteria.
- Strong analytical skills; SQL proficiency and comfort working with large data sets are a plus.
- Basic understanding of cloud-based and API-driven architectures.
- Familiarity with market data providers (e.g., Bloomberg, Refinitiv, ICE) is a plus.
- Experience with Agile delivery and tools such as Jira and Confluence.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work across technical and business teams.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Finance or a related field; progress toward CFA or CAIA is a plus.
- Experience with investment management platforms such as Charles River IMS is a plus.
