Seasonal Associate, Data Scientist

About the role

ICF is looking for a candidate with foundational skills in statistics, machine learning, predictive modeling, and data engineering to join our team. In addition, you will help develop AI-driven pilot projects and perform data analyses summarizing trends and modeling impacts for both internal and external clients.

This is an on-call opportunity beginning in November 2026, and continuing through the first half of 2027. Pay is expected to be at $27.50 per hour. The position is anticipated to be hybrid from Reston, VA.

What you’ll be doing:

• Develop data pipelines and AI/ML solutions that address client problems, maximize efficiency, and maintain high standards of quality.
• Design and develop statistical analyses, visualize the output of statistical models, present and interpret the output of predictive models, and perform quality assurance tasks on model code and output.
• Identify important and interesting questions about large datasets, then translate those questions into concrete analytical tasks.
• Build quantitative models with data and communicate the results of those models to stakeholders
• Help conceptualize and perform data analyses to summarize trends
• Develop and execute database queries to support the development and formatting of modeling inputs.

What you must have:

• A minimum of 60 completed credit hours towards a bachelor’s degree in a technical or quantitative field such as Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related discipline.
• US Citizenship due to federal contract requirements.
• Ability to obtain Public Trust due to Government Contract.

What we’d like you to have:

• Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
• Experience with quantitative analysis and statistical programming using tools such as Python, R, SAS, or SQL.
• Experience applying machine learning techniques, including NLP, anomaly detection, graph analytics, or deep learning.
• Experience with cloud-based data and AI platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud).
• Experience with Generative AI, large language models (LLMs), or AI-enabled applications.
• Experience with data modeling, data warehousing, and relational databases.
• Experience with data visualization and storytelling tools such as Tableau, Shiny, or Bokeh.
• Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills with demonstrated initiative.
• Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities, work independently, and perform effectively in a fast-paced team environment.
