About the role

U.S. Remote (Florida preferred)

We are the Environment & Planning Division. We are passionate about doing what’s right for our clients, our people, the communities where we live and work, and the environment. We are planners, scientists, program managers, communicators, economists, technologists, and strategists. We are collaborative, curious, and committed to excellence—these are qualities we value that make us who we are and inspire us to grow.

ICF is hiring an experienced, well connected, and technically accomplished Senior Growth Lead in environmental services in Florida with an environmental science, environmental policy, biology, or related background. You will drive growth, build and maintain client and teaming partner relationships, and play a leadership role in growing the Environment & Planning Division’s services and team in Florida.

In addition to driving growth, you will provide oversight, strategy, and technical advice for projects in Florida, with support from a broader team of experts to ensure successful project execution in the state. You will be able to apply a wide range of experience and capabilities in the pursuit of complex projects and regulatory platforms.

You will support the growth and development of our team as a technical leader, mentor to early career staff, and principal contributor to business development activities. You will work with ICF team members across the country, maintain working relationships with our clients and be willing to undertake periodic short-term travel. Position is remote with a strong preference for a location in Florida.

What You Will Do

  • Oversee project management including client contact, agency coordination, budget control, invoicing, schedule, personnel allocation/planning, technical approach, and subcontractor involvement.
  • Lead or advise ICF staff and clients on regulatory and natural resource agency coordination and consultation efforts as required under federal regulations and statutes such as the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), Endangered Species Act (ESA), and/or Clean Water Act (CWA).
  • Write and review technical reports and public environmental documents.
  • Perform QA/QC review of project documents, reports, presentations, technical memorandums, and other work products with a focus on technical adequacy, regulatory compliance, and client-specific requirements.
  • Provide mentoring and training to staff on topics including, but not limited to, technical expertise, project and client management skills, writing, business development, and other consulting-specific skills.
  • Be a positive, curious, organized, innovative, committed, self-motivated and supportive addition to our team environment.
  • In coordination with internal business partners and leadership, assist with recruiting and growing project delivery teams that support projects based in Florida.

What You Must Have

  • Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, environmental policy, biology, or related discipline.
  • Minimum of 15 years of experience leading or supporting environmental, energy, and/or natural resource projects.
  • Experience and successful track record of leading environmental services business development efforts, including the addition of new clients and growing work with existing clients in Florida.
  • Experience developing successful technical and cost proposals for environmental services.
  • A well-developed industry network with private/public sector clients and regulatory agencies in Florida.
  • Strong business development acumen, understanding of the market, and a proven process for identifying and positioning to win new project work.

What We’d Like You to Have

  • Master’s degree in environmental science, environmental policy, biology, or related discipline.
  • Experience with project execution in the State of Florida.
  • Detailed knowledge and demonstrated experience with NEPA, CWA, and ESA, agency consultation and coordination, and scientifically sound assessment of project effects.
