As a Senior Infrastructure Engineer (On-Prem) at AeroVect, you will own and scale the physical infrastructure that supports our autonomous vehicle operations at our garage facilities. Your primary focus will be deploying, configuring, maintaining, and troubleshooting bare-metal servers, networking equipment, and rack infrastructure to ensure reliable operations across our active airport deployments.

This is a highly hands-on infrastructure role, ideal for someone with a strong background in Linux systems administration, data center infrastructure, physical networking, and hardware reliability. You don't need to be a software engineer. We're looking for someone who enjoys working directly with hardware, building reliable infrastructure, and solving complex operational challenges.

You'll work in a fast-paced environment where infrastructure directly supports autonomous vehicles operating in live airport environments. As AeroVect scales its fleet and expands to new locations, you'll play a key role in building standardized, reliable, and scalable on-prem infrastructure.

You Will

  • Deploy, configure, and maintain bare-metal Linux servers and computing infrastructure at AeroVect's garage facilities.

  • Own physical infrastructure setup, including server racks, cabling, power distribution, hardware installation, and equipment organization.

  • Configure, manage, and troubleshoot networking equipment, including switches, routers, firewalls, and network connectivity across on-prem systems.

  • Manage the lifecycle of physical infrastructure, from hardware selection and procurement through installation, maintenance, upgrades, and replacement.

  • Monitor and troubleshoot server health, network performance, hardware failures, and infrastructure reliability to minimize operational downtime.

  • Establish infrastructure standards, documentation, and repeatable deployment processes as AeroVect expands to additional garage locations.

  • Support connectivity and data transfer between autonomous vehicles, garage infrastructure, and cloud systems.

  • Maintain and improve existing infrastructure supporting vehicle software delivery and operational data uploads.

  • Develop lightweight automation and scripting solutions using Bash or Python to simplify system administration, monitoring, and infrastructure management.

  • Collaborate with software, cloud infrastructure, and autonomy engineering teams to ensure reliable integration between physical infrastructure and software systems.

  • Provide hands-on troubleshooting and operational support in a dynamic environment where infrastructure availability directly impacts vehicle operations.

You Have

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in infrastructure engineering, Linux systems administration, data center operations, or a similar technical role.

  • Strong experience deploying, configuring, and maintaining bare-metal Linux servers in on-prem environments.

  • Hands-on experience with server racks, cabling, hardware installation, power management, and physical infrastructure troubleshooting.

  • Solid understanding of networking fundamentals, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, routing, switching, and network troubleshooting.

  • Experience configuring and maintaining physical networking equipment such as switches, routers, and firewalls.

  • Strong Linux administration skills, including system configuration, troubleshooting, performance monitoring, storage management, and system-level debugging.

  • Experience diagnosing hardware and network failures and implementing solutions to improve infrastructure reliability.

  • Familiarity with infrastructure monitoring, logging, and alerting tools.

  • Ability to work independently, take ownership of infrastructure projects, and troubleshoot issues directly in the field.

  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced operational environment with evolving infrastructure needs and priorities.

We Prefer

  • Experience managing on-prem infrastructure in robotics, autonomous vehicles, industrial automation, manufacturing, or other hardware-intensive environments.

  • Experience building or scaling physical infrastructure across multiple operational sites.

  • Familiarity with server provisioning, configuration management, or infrastructure automation tools such as Ansible.

  • Experience with virtualization, containerization, or on-prem compute orchestration.

  • Basic Python or Bash scripting experience for infrastructure automation.

  • Familiarity with edge computing, vehicle connectivity, or data transfer between on-prem and cloud environments.

  • Experience supporting software deployment to physical devices or embedded systems.

  • Familiarity with hardware lifecycle management, infrastructure capacity planning, and redundancy strategies.

  • Exposure to high-availability environments where infrastructure downtime directly impacts physical operations.
