About the role

At Snowflake, we are powering the era of the agentic enterprise. To usher in this new era, we seek AI-native thinkers across every function who are energized by the opportunity to reinvent how they work. You don’t just use tools; you possess an innate curiosity, treating AI as a high-trust collaborator that is core to how you solve problems and accelerate your impact. We look for low-ego individuals who thrive in dynamic and fast-moving environments and move with an experimental mindset — who rapidly test emerging capabilities to discover simpler, more powerful ways to deliver results. At Snowflake, your role isn't just to execute a function, but to help redefine the future of how work gets done.

Senior Software Engineer, CXE – Frontier Engineering

Customers are taking Snowflake into increasingly ambitious workloads, and they expect the product itself to guide them through complexity. The Customer Experience Engineering (CXE) team builds the intelligent product capabilities that make this possible. We turn diagnostic telemetry, operational signals and technical knowledge, both structured and unstructured, into AI-powered features inside Snowflake that help customers understand, diagnose and resolve problems on their own.

We design LLM-powered applications and agentic systems, backed by solid backend engineering, and ship them to production at Snowflake scale. We're looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join us. You'll own products from design through launch, and you'll use AI tools in your own engineering workflow.

As a Sr. Software Engineer, you will:

  • Lead and drive projects that span our stack, including Java and Python services hosted in Kubernetes and Snowpark Container Services.

  • Design, build and ship LLM-powered features and AI agents that reason over diagnostic data and technical content, with attention to quality, latency, cost and safety.

  • Create evaluation frameworks and observability for AI systems, so we can measure and improve their quality in production.

  • Use AI-assisted development tools in your daily work and help raise the team's practices for building with them.

  • Promote strong collaboration within a cross-functional team, including product management and design.

  • Deliver features requiring close coordination with several partner teams.

  • Be a strong contributor to the product vision and drive team planning.

  • Find problems, instrument the relevant components and implement lasting solutions

  • Mentor and coach junior team members.

Our ideal Senior Software Engineer will have:

  • B.S. or M.S degree in CS, MIS, or equivalent discipline

  • 6+ years experience hands-on software engineering experience

  • Deep understanding of modern application design architecture, good API design patterns, performance, and scale.

  • Expertise in at least one of the following (bonus for more than one): Python, Java, Scala, GoLang.

  • Experience with software engineering best practices: unit testing, code reviews, and design documentation.

  • Excellent debugging and troubleshooting skills, especially in a cloud environment.

  • Demonstrated technical leadership experience, such as being an architect or tech lead for high-impact projects.

  • Great communication skills, both verbal and written and an interest in working with a diverse set of peers and external developers.

  • Genuine enjoyment of the art of building great software, and a love of learning new things.

Snowflake is growing fast, and we’re scaling our team to help enable and accelerate our growth. We are looking for people who share our values, challenge ordinary thinking, and push the pace of innovation while building a future for themselves and Snowflake.
